Director Alan Haight joined the Department of Licensing in 2002. He has served in several leadership roles during his tenure, but is known for always working to transform the agency into a more customer-focused and efficient operation, and his ability to move quickly to effect positive change. Gov. Chris Gregoire appointed him as director in 2011.
Alan’s work to consolidate and enhance the agency’s customer service center dramatically reduced busy signals to customers and led to a Governor’s Management Award in 2003. He has also served as Chief Financial Officer and as a key legislative liaison for the agency. Alan’s more recent work as Deputy Director of the agency has led to significant reductions in driver license office wait times.
Prior to his service at the Department of Licensing, Alan spent 28 years at US Bank in a variety of management positions, including Senior Vice President. During his last seven years with the bank, he managed the corporate call center, handling more than 50 million calls per year with a staff of 500. He was also an entrepreneur with his own call center consulting company and served as marketing director for a Seattle software company.
Alan is married and has two grown children.
