OLYMPIA—The state fuel tax and some driver license fees are increasing July 1. The fuel tax increase will fund a transportation improvement plan designed to address more than 270 of our state's most critical transportation projects.
The state tax on gasoline and diesel fuel will increase 3 cents per gallon, from 28 cents to 31 cents.
Several of the general fees charged by the Department of Licensing also are increasing to cover increased costs of issuing licenses:
