WA Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation receives donation

OLYMPIA—Department of Licensing Director Liz Luce and Washington State Patrol Assistant Chief Brian Ursino presented a $3,800 donation to the Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation (WSLEMF) on Monday, August 7.

“We are very, very pleased and excited to have this opportunity to give to such a worthy cause,” said Luce, regional president of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). “We value our relationship with the law enforcement community, and are happy we can help support the foundation.”

Luce presented the check to Kit Ford, Executive Director of the foundation.

“We are very thankful for the friendship we have with Department of Licensing, and we appreciate their generosity,” said Ford. “We have worked together for years on the Law Enforcement Memorial license plate, and Licensing employees have always been so wonderful to work with.”

AAMVA held its annual regional conference in Seattle last month, and the department hosted a silent auction to benefit the foundation. The proceeds of the silent auction were designated to foundation that supports the newly dedicated Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial located on the Washington State Capitol Campus grounds. Presently 270 names are engraved on the Memorial Wall, dating back to 1855.

The WSLEMF also supports families and co-workers of law enforcement officers who are killed in the line of duty. There is a recognized, volunteer group who work with the foundation and the family immediately after the death of an officer.
