DOL’s consolidation plan, which was approved by the 2009 Legislature, includes consolidating a total of 10 offices, primarily in urban locations on the west side of the state within a few miles of another office. Offices in Auburn, Greenwood, Olympia, and Othello already have been closed.
DOL employees in offices closed under this plan will move to nearby offices. The expected cost savings under the plan is $2.6 million this biennium and $2.9 in the subsequent biennium.
Plans to beef up online services and installing self service stations at LSOs are moving forward. The Department encourages everyone to skip a trip and renew their driver license or ID card online at www.dol.wa.gov.
