Starting May 15, architect candidates will work directly with NCARB during IDP training and completion of the ARE. Once these requirements are met, NCARB will forward the NCARB record to our board staff. Then candidates must submit the forms, fees, and supporting documents required to complete the application process before getting a license.
You may only use direct registration if you are a newly eligible candidate who meets NCARB’s education requirement and have an active NCARB record.
NCARB has recommended candidates be allowed to take the ARE upon graduation and is now ready to accept applications online. The Washington State Board for Architects will start allowing early entry on January 1, 2008.
The Washington Board for Architects adopted a policy for the
Application and Interpretation of Licensing Exemptions RCW 18.08.410 (5)(6) at its June 1, 2007 meeting.
