Out-of-state license: Cosmetologists
Licensing requirements
To get a license as a cosmetologist, barber, manicurist, or esthetician, you must:
- be at least 17 years of age.
- hold a current license in good standing in another state or foreign country.
How to get your license
Submit all of the following:
- Your completed
application.
- Verification you have a current license in good standing in another state or foreign country. A copy of your license is NOT verification of licensure. Please contact the state you are licensed in to request a verification.
- Proof you have passed the state-approved National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) written and practical examinations.
- The fee (if applicable).
