Out of state: Cosmetology instructor
Licensing requirements
To get a license as a cosmetology instructor, you must:
- hold a current instructor license in good standing in another state or foreign country.
- have a current cosmetology, barber, manicurist, or esthetics license in Washington State.
How to get your license
Submit all of the following:
- a completed
application.
- verification you have a current license in good standing in another state or foreign country. A copy of your license is NOT verification of licensure. Please contact the state you are licensed in to request a verification.
- proof you have passed the state-approved National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) written and practical examinations.
- the fee (if applicable.)

Post your license
Your license must be posted at your work station.
