Frequently asked questions

Is there a fee to take an exam?

Yes, you must pay exam application fees, which vary depending on the type of exam. In addition, all applicants who are approved to take a test (except those taking the Forest Engineering or Structural III exam) must pay a fee to Engineering and Land Surveying Examination Services (NCEES), to cover the cost of preparing, administering, and grading the exams.

Note: Once you receive a letter from us approving you to take the exam, you must register with NCEES by their deadline.

What is the deadline for applying for an exam?

The deadline for the October exam is July 31st. The deadline for the April exam is January 15th.

What is the deadline for rescheduling an exam?

The deadline for the October exam is July 31st. The deadline for the April exam is January 15th. You may ask to take the next exam by sending us a written request with the rescheduling fee. If you originally applied to take the exam within the last 5 years, you do not need to submit a new application to reschedule your exam.

Are study guides available to help me prepare for an exam?

You may purchase study guides for most exams on the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) website.
