Exams: Landscape architects

CLARB administered exams

Starting December 2009, the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) will administer all sections of the Landscape Registration Examination (LARE).

  • Multiple-choice sections A, B, and D are administered by CLARB using a computer-based test administration system.
  • Sections C and E are administered by CLARB in June and December at a regional test center.

Score reporting

If you have taken CLARB exams and wish to have your scores transmitted to Washington State, please contact CLARB and authorize them to transmit your scores to us.

Law review

Candidates for licensure will be required, upon completion of their exam and experience requirements, to submit a review of several laws related to the practice of landscape architecture. The law review includes summaries associated with the:

This law review will be required of all new licensees in the state of Washington, including reciprocity applicants, and strengthens the connection between the licensing of professional landscape architects and current state and federal laws established for the protection of the environment and for the benefit of the citizens of our state.
