Short-term or special needs vehicle certificates

If you need to rent or lease a limousine for a short time, you must get a “special needs certificate”.

  • The certificate is valid for no more than 30 consecutive days.
  • The limousine(s) must meet all requirements, which includes passing the Washington State Patrol limousine inspection.

To request short-term or special needs vehicle certificates:

  1. Submit all of the following:
    • A written explanation of the reason you need the certificates, including each vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN).
    • Fee of $75 per vehicle (check or money order payable to the Dept of Revenue).
  2. Mail your request and fee to:
    State of Washington
    Business Licensing Service
    PO Box 9034
    Olympia, WA 98507-9034

How to update or correct an existing limousine vehicle certificate

  1. Submit all of the following:
    • A explanation of the reason for the change, including each vehicle's VIN.
    • Fee of $75 per vehicle (check or money order payable to the Dept of Revenue).
  2. Mail your request and fee to:

How to replace lost or destroyed certificates

  • Vehicle certificate: Call: 360.664.1389.
  • Special needs certificate: Reapply for a new one.
