Course approval: Real estate educators

All courses presented to students for clock-hour credit must be delivered by an approved school and instructor. Courses must be approved before the date on which the course is offered for clock-hour credit. Upon approval, a certificate of course approval will be sent to the school.

Application to offer real estate fundamentals, practices, law, business and/or brokerage management

New course

An application for approval of these courses must include a copy of each of the following:

  1. A completed Adobe PDf iconReal Estate Fundamentals, Practices, Law, Business, and/or Brokerage Management Course Offering Application with Administrator’s signature.
  2. Any texts, handouts, and other instructional materials.
  3. An examination with an answer key for review and approval (minimum 3 questions per clock hour).
  4. A check made out to "Washington State Treasurer" for $5 per clock hour (exception - $150 for Fundamentals) for a 2-year period.
  5. A completed Adobe PDF iconDistance Education Delivery Method Approval Application or a copy of the ARELLO certificate if this course is delivered by distance education.

Renewal

If there are no changes in course content or in the original course approval application for a previously approved course, you need only to submit the Adobe PDF iconReal Estate Fundamentals, Practices, Law, Business, and/or Brokerage Management Course Offering Application and the required fee. You do not need to submit additional material.

Other real estate course approval application

These courses must be a minimum of 3 clock hours in length.

New course

An application for approval of these courses must include 2 copies of the following:

  1. A completed Adobe PDF iconCourse Approval Application with Administrator’s signature.
  2. A course curriculum and/or syllabus.
  3. A course outline with learning objectives and hourly breakdown (make sure to highlight the core curriculum in your outline, if applicable).
  4. Any text, handouts, and other instructional materials.
  5. The final examination and answer key (if 30 clock hours or more).
  6. A check made out to "Washington State Treasurer" for $5 per clock hour (minimum $50) for a 2-year period.
  7. A completed Adobe PDF iconDistance Education Delivery Method Approval Application or a copy of the ARELLO certificate if this course is delivered by distance education.

If there are no changes in course content or in the original course approval application for a previously approved course, you need only to submit the Adobe PDF iconCourse Approval Application and the required fee. You do not need to submit additional material.

Secondary education provider course content approval

An approved school may offer courses that are currently approved for another education provider or course developer by submitting a Adobe PDF iconSecondary Provider Course Content Approval Application

You may not use this application for Real Estate Fundamentals, Real Estate Brokerage Management, Real Estate Law, Business Management, Real Estate Practices, or courses that include the prescribed core curriculum.

An application for secondary provider course content approval must include a copy of each of the following:

If there are no changes in course content or in the original secondary provider course content approval application for a previously approved course, you need only to submit the Adobe PDF iconSecondary Provider Course Content Approval Application. You do not need to submit additional material.
