Getting a license: Real estate salespersons

To be licensed as a real estate salesperson, you must:

  1. Be 18 years of age or older.
  2. Complete a 60 clock-hour course in real estate fundamentals. Clock hours must be completed within 5 years prior to application for examination. A list of approved real estate courses are available in the Adobe PDF iconreal estate course catalog.
  3. Obtain a Candidate Handbook, which contains the examination application, from the course provider. Have your school stamp and complete the required information on the Examination Application.
  4. Schedule an exam with the provider of our Real Estate examinations, Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP), at the number provided in the candidate handbook.
  5. Pass the examination. Those who pass the exam will receive information on how to apply for a license. Results are valid until June 30th, 2010. If you allow your exam score to expire, you will have to complete new education requirements, reapply for the exam, and pass the new exam.
  6. complete and submit the Adobe PDF iconReal Estate Salesperson, Associate Broker, or Branch Manager Application with the appropriate fee.
