Using E-Permitting

Features

The E-Permitting system automates the dealer temporary permit process by allowing Washington-licensed vehicle dealers to issue, revoke, reprint, and extend permits electronically. The system also allows dealers to view the following reports online:

  • Monthly statistics
  • E-permit log
  • Salesperson transactions
  • Reprinted e-permits
  • Paper permit log

E-permits

How to purchase e-permits

You may purchase electronic vehicle dealer temporary permits, or e-permits, through your vehicle and vessel licensing and titling agent or subagent for the same $15 fee as paper permits. Instead of printed forms, you will get a receipt that shows the e-permit numbers assigned to your dealership. The E-Permitting system will use these numbers when you issue e-permits.

How to request a refund

If your dealership has gone out of business, you may request a refund for your remaining e-permits. To request an e-permit refund, complete a Adobe PDF iconVehicle/Vessel Refund Application:

  • Mark the “Other“ box and fill in the reason you need a refund.
  • Include a print-out of the E-Permitting home page screen that contains your dealer number and location code, user name, date/time, and number of e-permits available. If you no longer have access to the E-Permitting system, please tell us on the refund application.
  • Mail or fax the completed, signed refund application and print-out of the E-permitting home page to the location on the application.

If you have questions about refunds, please call (360) 902-3833.
