Military experience waiver

If you drove trucks in the military, you may be able to waive the training certificate and commercial driver license (CDL) skills test requirements. The knowledge test(s) are still required.

A CDL is not allowed an indefinite military expiration. The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR 383.73(b) (9)) (fmcsa.dot.gov) does not allow expirations beyond 8 years.

Note: You can't get a passenger vehicle or school bus exemption under this waiver.
