Replace a lost ID card
If your ID card is lost or stolen, you may get a replacement:
You may replace your ID card if:
- We have your current address on file.
- Your card hasn’t expired.
- If it will expire within 90 days, you should renew it.
Replacing your ID card online
You may replace your ID card online if you haven’t replaced or renewed your card online in the past 12 months.
Your new card:
- Will be mailed within 7–10 days. If you don’t get it within 45 days, contact us at drivers@dol.wa.gov.
- Will show the last photo we took in an office.
Note: The online printed receipt won’t have your photo and isn’t valid identification.
Replacing your ID card at an office
You may get a replacement ID card at any driver licensing office. Bring along:
- Your proof of identity.
- Payment for the fee. You may pay with:
- Cash
- Check
- MasterCard and American Express credit or debit cards, and some Visa debit cards.
- Credit and debit cards not accepted at Coulee Dam, Davenport, Friday Harbor, Forks, Goldendale, Newport, Republic, or South Bend.
- A vendor-charged convenience fee is added to all transactions paid with a debit or credit card at driver licensing offices.
Your new card:
- Will be mailed within 7–10 days. If you don’t get it within 45 days, contact us at drivers@dol.wa.gov.
- Will have a new photo.
Using a self-service station
Some of our offices have self-service stations that you may use to replace your ID card. To pay the fee we accept Visa, MasterCard or American Express debit or credit cards.
Because our self-service stations are the same as renewing online, you may replace your ID card if:
- We have your current address on file.
- Your card hasn’t expired.
- If it will expire within 90 days, then you should renew it.
Your new card:
- Will be mailed within 7–10 days. If you don’t get it within 45 days, contact us at drivers@dol.wa.gov.
- Will show the last photo we took in an office.
