How to close your vehicle or boat dealership

If you decide to close your business, you must follow the steps below.

1. Sign a statement to surrender your license and dealer plates

Write the following statement on the back of your license:

"I voluntarily surrender my license as of [today's date]."

Include your signature with the statement.

If you don't have your license, you may write this statement on a piece of paper.

2. Give us your dealer license and plates

You can surrender your dealer license and plates by mail or phone. Choose the method that works best for you.

Send your statement, license, and plates to:

Call us to surrender your dealer license and plates

Call 360-664-6466 to let us know you'd like to surrender your license and plates.

3. Close your business account with the Department of Revenue

Close your business account on the Department of Revenue's website.
