Title and registration fees depend on several factors, including the weight of the vehicle, where you live, and the type of plates you’re renewing.

Replacements and duplicates

  • Change ownership of a vehicle or boat.
  • Add/delete the name of a registered owner on a vehicle or boat.
  • Vehicles and trailers: $25.50
  • Boats: $10
  • Subagent fee (all licensing offices, except county auditor): $12
  • Use tax (if no sales tax paid when vehicle purchased): Based on sales tax at purchaser’s address. See Dept. of Revenue Tax Rate Lookup Tool.
  • Quick Title fee (to get the certificate of title directly from an eligible licensing office): $50
Name change fee
  • Change your name on a vehicle or boat title.
  • Change, add, or delete the name of a lien holder on a title.
