Collegiate plates

Seven colleges and universities in Washington State offer collegiate license plates. They are:

• Central Washington University
• Eastern Washington University
• Evergreen State College
• Gonzaga University
• University of Washington
• Washington State University
• Western Washington University

Anyone can buy a collegiate license plate, and these plates may be transferred from vehicle to vehicle as long as the registered owner remains the same.

How to apply

1. Complete a Special License Plate Application.
2. Contact your vehicle licensing office to determine the exact cost of your collegiate license plates, including all licensing fees.
3. Take the completed application and all appropriate fees to a vehicle licensing office.

How to renew

There are no special requirements for renewing collegiate license plates. To renew, pay all licensing fees plus $30 and:

• Renew online.
• Renew in-person at a vehicle licensing office.
• Renew through the mail by following the instructions on your vehicle renewal notice.
