How to renew your license: Driver training school

We have a new online service for managing school, instructor and staff licenses and certificates. For help using the new service, please contact dolelicensingsupport@dol.wa.gov or 360.664.0200 option 7.

We expect a processing delay for mailed applications and renewals. Renew or apply online for faster processing of your license. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience.

When to renew

You renew your license every year. Your renewal must be received on or before the expiration date.

How to renew

For the main school location…

  1. Mail the Driver Training School License Application.
  2. Complete a staff application for each non-instructor staff and owner.
  3. Application fee (non-refundable) – Check/money order payable to Department of Licensing. Include:
    • Copy of lease for school premises.
    • Proof of insurance for school premises at a commercial location.
    • Proof of insurance for vehicle(s).
    • Copy of all vehicle registrations.
    • List of all employed school instructors.
    • List of all employed school non-instructor employees.
  4. Mail documents and fees to:

    Seattle, WA 98124-3401

For a branch location…

  1. Driver Training School Branch License Application.
  2. Application fee (non-refundable) – Check/money order payable to Department of Licensing. Include:
    • Copy of lease for school premises at a commercial location.
    • Proof of insurance for school premises.
    • Proof of insurance for vehicle(s).
  3. Mail documents and fees to:

It takes at least 3 weeks to process your applications.
