How to renew your license: Private investigators and certified trainers
Things to know
- Renewal fee: $175 + $15 for certified trainer endorsement, if applicable.
- Licenses expire every year. You may renew 120 days before it expires.
What you’ll need
- A SecureAccess Washington (SAW) account to apply online
- If you don't have one, you'll be able to create one before you start.

Create your SAW account to renew and pay your fees online.
Start renewalBy mail
Send the following:
- Completed Private Investigator License Application and Renewal (mark the renewal box).
- Check or money order for the fee (payable to Department of Licensing).
