How to hold amateur boxing and wrestling events

Requirements

If you plan to charge admission for an amateur boxing or wrestling event, you must meet the following requirements:

• All the participants must be amateurs.
• The event must be registered and sanctioned by one of the following approved sanctioning organizations:
  • Amateur boxing
    • United States Amateur Boxing, Inc. (teamusa.org)
  • Amateur wrestling
    • Amateur Athletic Union (aauwrestling.net)
    • National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) (ncaa.org)
    • Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) (wiaa.com)

Terms we use

Amateur

A person who has never received, nor competed for, a purse or other article of value over $50 (either for training expenses or participating in an event).

Event

Boxing or wrestling contests, sparring, fisticuffs, matches, shows, or exhibitions.
