How to get your license: Landscape architect with accredited degree

We have a new online service for managing professional and business licenses. These videos and guides can help you set up your account access. For help using the new service, please contact 360.664.0200

We expect a processing delay for mailed applications and renewals. Renew or apply online for faster processing of your license. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Use this process if you have a landscape architect degree that is accredited by the Landscape Architect Accreditation Board (LAAB).

How to apply

  1. Contact the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) (www.clarb.org) to take the Landscape Architect Registration Exam (LARE).
  2. CLARB will register you for the exam.
  3. Take and pass all divisions of the LARE.
    • If you don’t pass a division of the exam the first time, you may continue to take it until you pass. However, after you pass your first division, you must pass all divisions of the exam within 5 years.
  4. Complete a Landscape Architect Law Summary Review Exam.
  5. Have CLARB transmit your CLARB Council Record to the Board.
  6. Submit your application, either online or by mail:
