Exams: Landscape architects
CLARB administered exams
The Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) administers all sections of the 4 part fully computerized Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE). The 4 sections are:
- Section 1: Project and Construction Management
- Section 2: Inventory and Analysis
- Section 3: Design
- Section 4: Grading, Drainage, and Construction Documentation

Transmitting your score
If you've taken CLARB exams and wish to have your scores sent to Washington State, please contact CLARB and authorize them to transmit your scores to us.
Law review
You're required to submit a review of several laws related to the practice of landscape architecture, after you complete the exam and experience requirements. The law review includes summaries associated with the:
- Growth Management Act
(RCW 36.70A: Planning by selected counties and cities) - Growth Management Act
(RCW 36.70B: Local government project permit process) - State Environmental Policy Act
- Endangered Species Act (law.cornell.edu)
- Shoreline Management Act
- Law Relating to Landscape Architects
