How to get your license: Landscape architect by reciprocity
Requirements
To qualify for reciprocity, you must:
- Hold an active landscape architect license in another state or country
- Have qualifications and experience that meet the following criteria:
- If you have a degree, qualifications that have been evaluated and meet Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) (www.clarb.org) Standard of Eligibility for Council Certification.
- If you do not have a degree, qualifications and experience comparable to WAC 308-13-020(1)(b).
How to apply
- Complete, sign, and date the Landscape Architect Law Summary Review Exam.
- Submit your application, either online or by mail:

- Log in or sign up to apply and pay your reciprocity application and 2-year license fees.
- During this process, you will upload:
- Completed Landscape Architect Law Review Exam (step 1 above).
- During this process, you will upload:
- Log in or sign up to apply and pay your reciprocity application and 2-year license fees.
- By mail
- Complete a Landscape Architect License Application
- If you have a CLARB Council Record, complete sections 1, 3, and 5 only
- Submit the following with your completed application:
- Completed Landscape Architect Law Summary Review Exam (step 1 above)
- Check or money order, payable to the Department of Licensing, for the reciprocity application and 2-year license fees.

- Complete a Landscape Architect License Application
- Online
- Request the required supporting documents for your application:
- If you have a CLARB Council Record: Have CLARB transmit your record to the board.
- If you don’t have a CLARB Council Record, have all of the following sent to the address shown below:
- Official college transcripts from your college/university
- Certification of completion of one of the following exams from the state where you received your first license:
- Landscape Architect Registration Exam (LARE), or
- Uniform National Exam for Landscape Architects (UNE)
- Certification of a valid landscape architect license from the state where you are currently licensed
